I feel truly blessed to have such an amazing role model in my life. Someone who has taught me to really love nature. Someone who has showed me his love for hiking and gave me the roots to experience and grow while visiting. My dad is a super amazing person. His whole life he has hiked and biked his heart and soul out while picking up handfulls of garbage, people knowingly left behind. Being thankful for our beautiful North & West Vancouver trails. Today my dad said yes to a walk in those very trails. It was the first time in a long time. You see my dad's health is deteriorating. He'll be 70 next week and this past summer hasn't really felt like walking or hiking. I hope today was not our last moment soaking in the sweet smell of nature, our zen, the bounce in our step and the hymn in our voice. I wish I can rent a helicopter and take my dad to Garibaldi Lake and have a North Shore trail named after him. A place I can continue to visit where we can always have another hiking adventure together long after he's gone. Yes my dad is an amazing man. I love him! I dedicate this Thanksgiving to him and thank him for the gift appreciation for the love of the mountains... I hope you have found that special place and person that truly makes you happy. My dad, Lew, is just that person. This year I'm grateful for the small things, the air I breathe and the trails I walk. Happy Thanksgiving...
