Rolley Lake: Mission
Trail Key: Easy, loop, kid friendly, dog friendly, waterfalls.
Dogs: Yes-leashed (not on the beach area)
Pit toilet: Yes, trail head start
Length: 4-5 Km’s
Elevation: Minimal
Hiking Check List: Water, snacks, tell someone
Directions: Make your way to Mission and Rolley Lake Provincial Park
Loop: Start your walk just before the beach. You can go right or left as it’s a loop. I went right. Go left at the fork as the trail skirts the lake-right takes you to the camp. Keep following the lush trail. It’s not marked but very well walked. You’ll see a couple of viewpoints of the lake as you make your way along. Eventually you come to another fork, carry on straight to the falls or go left over the wooden bridge to complete the Rolley Lake Loop. Cross a couple of small wooden bridges. Not too long after a long boardwalk where the views of the lake open. Then you’ll walk through the forest and soon the beach will appear where you started earlier.
Waterfalls: If you start from the beach and go left it a faster way to the falls. If you’re going to the falls from above, then start from the wide path… Cross a bridge that crosses Rolley Creek. Go left at the fork and follow the wide path to the campsite. Then after the campsite there’s a trail to the Rolley Falls Loop. This trail takes you to another fork, go right and take a steep trail down. Once at the bottom there’s a trail on the left. Up ahead are a few switchbacks that take you to an old FSR. Cross the bridge to see the falls. Follow the trail up a steep hill and soon you’ll see the falls much closer on a wooden platform. Keep going up the trail and through some trees to another bridge. Cross the bridge and head up another hill to the fork you were at before. Go right here and back down to the lake. Pass the bridge and to the beach area where you started. Happy & safe trails!
Note: The park is closed at certain times during the year.
