E~2~TR~RH~V~OH~DF~KF~PT
Length: 9 Km’s
Elevation: Minimal
Pit Toilet: Yes-beginning/campsite
Dogs: Yes
Drive to Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal in West Vancouver. Park your car in the lot and buy tickets to walk on the ferry. You only have to pay one way. A fair warning you must be ready to board the ferry 10-15 minutes early...no one tells you this when you buy your tickets. The ferry ride is less than 20 minutes and has stunning views. Ride on deck, up top or snuggle inside. Dogs are welcomed but must stay below and are free of charge.
Once you arrive in Snug Cove, be prepared to fall in love. Just past the library, steps really, and to the left is the beginning of the Killarney Lake hike. Look for Crippen Park. The trails are 3-7 feet wide with some tree roots as you circle around the lake. The lake trail is well marked and easy to fine your way. It is a mini hike with some rolling hills.
As you stroll around you will come a picnic spot where there are outhouses. The lake is real pretty. After you have your lunch, head off for about 30 minutes longer and you will find yourself back at the ferry terminal.
There are some very quaint shops especially 'Union Steamship Marina Office Gift Shop.' It is filled with Sea Stars (formally known as Star Fish), tree things, coasters, jewelry, dishes, vases, clothing +++. You name it and they probably have it. After a little browsing, return to the ferry for your free ride back to Horseshoe Bay. Happy & safe trails!
