Elevation: minimal/2 K
Dogs: Yes; leashed
Pit Toilet: yes-trail-head start
Hiking Checklist:
Water, snacks, tell someone
Directions: 20 K (13 K before Hope) past Agassiz on Lougheed Highway. If you're coming from Agassiz the park will be on your left side.
Trail: The Halq’eméylem translation of Syéxw Chó:leqw means "rockslide in the forest." This is a biker park with shared trail for walking & jogging. There's a playground for kids. Sts'ailes artist Rocky Larock made some beautiful Sasquatch and raven carvings. Corey Bulpitt is the Haida artist that created salmon paintings along the bridge and Sherman Moore is the artist that did chainsaw carvings. It's amazing. Mostly I love that it's an aboriginal name and that all are welcome. I'm sure there will be more trails added as we move forward.
We walked left past the playground and followed the Sp'oq'es Loop or in English, Eagle Loop. This trail weaves its way along to a Talking Circle and a lookout of the big beautiful boulders and lush green valley. There were mini lights strung all over. We kept walking and we came to the main path. Going left takes you across a bridge or right brings you back to the main parking lot. The park is 33 acres big, we only walk a small section of it. Happy & safe trails.
