Jug Island is another good starter hike or just a quick one with rolling hills, bridges, creeks and a beautiful beach. Go early as parking is limited. There is one steep section. The beach is your halfway point and a perfect spot for lunch. At the beach you will see mountains to your right and to your left Quarry Rock in Deep Cove. You may also see an occasional kayak drift by. When you are finished head back the way you came and return to the beach area. You can combine other trails to make them longer as there are many trails in this area. Back at the beach if you walk down to the wharf you will see many Sea Stars (formally known as Star Fish). If you’re lucky the rangers will be down there educating you about these any many other sea life. You can also reserve the undercover area for picnics and they have a grill that is cleaned daily as a first come first serve. It is a busy place in the summer. Happy & safe trails!
