Zoa Peak Trail
Trail Key: M~2~DF~KF~ST~V~R
Length: 11 km’s
Elevation: 959 meters
Pit Toilets: No
Dogs: Yes
Drive to the falls lake exit (#221) and go under the highway. Turn left and the first road turn, right and drive about a km to the parking lot.
Go up the north road on the Cold Creek Road past the Cattle Guard sign. There's a small cairn on your left with some flagging tape, turn left here and follow this trail up the to the Pipeline Rd. Keep going up this sometimes rocky overgrown road for 800 meters. It's quite the climb. Don't forget to look back a few times, the views are amazing! Another small cairn and a little trail will appear on your left. There's a Zoa Peak trail sign high in the trees. Follow this trail. For some it's a small scramble up a few rocks, others will walk up it.
The trail now snakes its way along in some old growth. A few parts the trail opens up with some stunning views. It’s very easy to find your way. The trail is well marked.
Once in the open meadows you'll come to a part in the trail...going left takes you to Zoa's sub peak and staying right takes you to Zoa's true summit. You are now skirting around the bottom of Zoa's sub peak. Some parts are a little open as you climb the gentle rolling hills.
Finally you come to your last push up the mountain to Zoa's true peak. It looks scary here but it's really not. Once at the top just a few more minutes and your lunch spot awaits. It's like a big rocky outcrop with trees everywhere. If you're looking north-west you'll see: Guanaco (right side), Vicuña (middle), Elpaca (left side) and many other nameless peaks.
Once your done you can go back the way you came or climb up any one of the many trails to the sub-peak which also has some lovely views.
After, carry on down the well marked trail to the Pipeline Rd and the way you came up. Follow it down and it goes into the side trail that takes you back to the lower road and return back to your car.
Once at the parking lot as a cool down if you travel for about a km to Falls Lake it's quite a pretty walk along a cool trail and over some bridges. Before you know it the lake is in front of you. There are camping pads and a pit toilet. Take a look up and meet Thor and Zoa's False Summit where you were not long before. Go back the way you came and you are back at your car. Happy & safe trails.
