Nahatlatch FSR...carry on for 39 K. Park on road and see TH sign post straight ahead.
Start your hike down a wide road. In a few spots a wet creek bed as you navigate yourself through the slippery rocks, chunks of Quartz & Fools Gold.
At the swamp like pond go right and continue up trail as you skirt the swamp. Soon you'll cross a small rushing creek with a tired bridge. It's easy to cross but is in need of repair.
Not long after you'll hear the sweet sound of raging water as you come to Mehatl Creek.
After navigating some over growth and dead fall you'll come to a proper trail. It climbs slightly as you hear and see the rushing creek. Here there are lots of ancient moss covered boulders. The trail snakes as you gain elevation in this section of trail. A small bench with a view sits here for the fainted heart. Along this section of a small boulder covered ridge are some stunning canyon views of water rushing far below.
As you navigate dead fall once again soon you'll hear the thumping sound of Mehatl Falls. There's a few spots here to sit here. For a nicer lunch spot carry onto the upper falls. It's about a two minute walk up slippery dirt path and through a forest draped in green moss. There are many more spots to sit and view of the upper falls. Once you have your fill head back the way you came. Happy & safe trails.
While your up here I recommend seeing Grizzly Falls. Just over the wooden bridge st the 40 k marker turn left and go 2 k down the bumpy FSR. On your right in a once raging fire forest is these beautiful falls.
