Sasquatch Caves: Hope |
Length: About 1 K rtn
Elevation: Minimal Pit Toilet: No Dogs: No Waiver: Must sign at Holiday Motel Headlamp: Yes Clothing: Cave wear (clothes you don't care about/long pants or gaiters) Let someone know where you are going. Directions: Drive to Hope. Take exit #168th, right at Flood Hope Rd. Park at hotel and sign waiver as the caves are on hotel private property. The hotel may be closed early morning on Sunday for church. Start your trek at the east end of the parking lot. Go right up the road and a few minutes later you will see the Th on your left. Follow the worn path up and you will see the first cave within minutes. Crawl inside your first cave. There are arrows showing the way. We went for a bit but the crevices get quite small so choose to exit the first cave and walk along the trail and enter through the second cave. As you make your along inside the tiny areas watch your footing as there are parts where you could fall and get hurt. If you have a fear of tiny tight spaces this may not be the hike for you. There lots of slippery rocks and moss so good shoes are recommended. There are funky animal drawings in some of the caves. I did not see any hairy Sasquatches or Bigfoot on this trek...however, there's an eerie feeling while crawling in the caves and walking on the trail. It's as someone or thing is watching you. I believe in folklore's so I'll be back. Happy & safe hiking! |
