BCMC, Grouse Mountain
North Vancouver
Hiking Key: M~2~ST~RT~R~V~KF
Length: 3 Km’s
Elevation: 853 meters
Toilet: Beginning/end
Dogs: No
The BCMC is next door to the very popular Grouse Grind. There are flush toilets in the parking lot and at the top but nothing on the trail. You have to pay for parking.
You will start up the GG trail and after 5 minutes the BCMC veers off to the right, there are signs. It is a better trail and a little longer than the GG. BCMC is 3 km and a great workout. There are tree roots and rocks to navigate and there is less traffic which makes the hike more enjoyable. It is quite pretty and very quiet.
The trail markers are good with an added bonus of numbers starting at 1 to 160 when you are at the top. There are no real views but it is pretty in the forest as you switchback to the top.
It is not a good idea to walk down but if you must then I do think poles are a good idea. When you get to the top you can take the sky ride down or buy a season pass. You also have the option in doing other hikes at the top: Dam, Little Goat and Goat Mountain. You can also visit the resident grizzlies: Grinder and Coola. Happy & safe trails!
