I get kind of annoyed in the winter with snow shoeing on this BC Parks trail. Mount Seymour will not let you park at the top so you either have to walk a long ways or lie and say you have a skiing lesson. Cypress Mountain has figured that SS'ers will buy lunch, things from the gift store and pay for parking which all brings in revenue!!! Mount Seymour not so much...they seem to dislike SS'ers and wish we weren't there. Well I hate to be the barrier of bad news but I think we are here to stay.
It is quite a tiring 5 km SS to Dog Mountain however, when you arrive onto the rocky outcrop it is pretty amazing. It's mainly flat with rolling hills! If you can get a clear day, the view is stunning. Last year for the first time, in the dead of winter, I saw Whiskey Jacks and was lucky to have two of them swoop down and eat from the palm of my hands...I think they liked my dried fruit? There are only bathrooms at the beginning of the SS. Happy & safe ss'ing.
