Houston Trail: Fort Langley
Trail Key:
Easy, view, dog friendly (leashed), kid friendly
Elevation: 4 K return
Elevation: 59 m
Dogs: Yes; leashed
Pit Toilet: yes-trail-head start
Hiking Checklist:
Water, snacks, tell someone, MICROspikes during the winter months
Directions: From Fort Langley's village, follow 96th Avenue west from Glover Road for 1.5km. At a curve in the road, turn right on to McKinnon Crescent. Continue straight for 1.2km, passing a 'no exit' sign before turning right into the trail head parking lot.
Trail: Houston Trail is a 4 km loop just outside of Fort Langley in Derby Reach. Once there, it is well marked & maintained. It is a perfect walk that almost feels like your hiking. It has lots of rolling hills and a few views of the lake popping through.
If you start to the left on the way back you will climb a steep hill. I like to do it twice, starting to the left the first time and the second time the right. It is quite busy and popular with limited parking. There is a brochure giving you more information about all the trails around Derby Reach at the beginning of the hike. Happy & safe Trails!
