Park at Shannon Falls parking lot but get there early, before 9:00 a.m. or you will have to park at alternate parking lots (Shannon Falls Provincial Park). At the other parking lots you will miss the falls and they are beautiful.
You start your hike just before the lookout at the falls. The signs are good and it would be hard to get lost to the first peak. For the first bit you walk along a flat road and then into some trees...enjoy this part as after that it's up and up and up. You will climb lots of stairs, steps, some tree roots, a couple of skinny well secured ladders, a chain or two, a bridge and rock stairs. If it’s been raining be careful as it can be slippery. Some of the steps are huge; I call them giant steps, not made for short people. The one thing I liked is when you are going up these newly built stair cases they have a higher handle to hold onto and one lower for shorter people like myself.
Along the way there are two spots that branch off to the other peaks. We just did first peak this day as we found the 2.5 km up and down quite challenging. There are a few lookouts along the way. The one near the top is really pretty and there are no signs pointing you in the direction to see it.
The last part and you will come to a section that is steep but in between two rocks. There are some trees and a chain to get you through this part, then one more skinny ladder and some chains at the top to pull you up. If you made it this far pat yourself on the back as this is no easy hike. You can walk around at the top for a bit looking for a nice place to sit and eat your lunch. Don't be alarmed at the people sitting near the edges or doing their yoga poses. It is steep and if you are un~comfortable with heights the lookout before the chains is a beautiful spot to have your lunch.
Rest up well, as coming down is a little technical, especially for shorter people. I went slowly. Now to be fair some people were running down but I noticed most people were going slower. I found going down was hard on my knees.
Eventually you will come to a staircase don't make the mistake of going all the way down if you did not park at the other parking lot or you will have to hike back up the stairs and continue on. Go left along the bridge where you were earlier in the day. Happy & safe trails!
