Scaredy Cat doesn't like mosquitoes but they sure like her...so I did some investigating. I believe in natural products that won't harm you long~term. I found The Insect Defend Patch works pretty good. The last few times I've been on the trail I have worn the patch with Avon's Skin so Soft and they have pretty much left me alone. The patch is a Deet free patch that you put on the night before your planned hike. You can wear it up to three days. I found it at Wal-mart. I like it better as it is Deet free and no messy bad tasting product is on your skin. If you want to go natural try going to www.stepintomygreenworld.com for some essential oil alternatives. You can also try: http://www.mercola.com/article/pesticides/deet.htm You could spray Deet onto your clothes rather than your skin but make sure you tuck in your pant legs. You can dry Bounce drier sheets and put them in your pocket. I myself have not tried this. If you have found something that works please send me an email and I will be happy to put your findings here.
Not only are mosquitoes a pain from their itchy bites but they also carry disease. Make sure you take precautions against their nasty bites.
